Originally posted by ic1male Hello, I remember many moons ago that Microsoft used to make four different versions of Windows NT. One of those was for a Power PC processor. Does anyone know if it is possible to load the PPC version of NT 3.51 straight onto a Mac? I'm just curious to see whether it would work or not. Do you have any idea how old WinNT PPC is? NT 3.5 will not work on a new PowerMac because it has not been updated to support the hardware in a 2004-era Mac. IIRC, no commercial version of NT ever ran on a commercial version of the Mac. NT PPC computers were designed to run NT and not the MacOS. They were sold by Motorola and possibly others, but not Apple. Originally posted by Mr. Me Do you have any idea how old WinNT PPC is? Actually, they weren't NT PPC computers, it was an open hardware spec called Common Hardware Reference Platform, or CHRP ('chirp'). Several companies, including Moto and IBM sold them. NT was one OS that ran on them. Windows NT 4.0 4.0. Windows NT 4.0 is the successor to the Windows NT 3.x release. In this release, the user interface from Windows 95 was integrated, making NT just as easy to use as its consumer counterpart. Internet Explorer was bundled, providing a web browser out of the box. MacOS 9 was reportedly ported to it, but it never saw commercial light. But no, CHRP/PPC NT has no hope of running on a modern Mac. Play worms for free os x sierra download. Not only does it download Dailymotion videos on Mac, but it also supports a great variety of other websites that host videos. Once you have downloaded a Dailymotion video, you can use multiple handy settings offered by Elmedia Player PRO to enhance your playback experience. Windows NT 3.1 was released for Intel x86 PC compatible, DEC Alpha, and ARC-compliant MIPS platforms. Windows NT 3.51 added support for the PowerPC processor in 1995, specifically PReP-compliant systems such as the IBM Power Series desktops/laptops and Motorola PowerStack series; but despite meetings between Michael Spindler and Bill Gates, not on the Power Macintosh as the PReP compliant Power Macintosh project failed to ship.: One of the stated goals of the PReP specification was to leverage standard PC hardware, and thus PReP was essentially a PC clone with a PowerPC CPU. Apple, wishing to seamlessly transition its Macintosh computers to PowerPC, found this to be particularly problematic. As it appeared no one was particularly happy with PReP, a new standard, the Common Hardware Reference Platform (CHRP), was developed and published in late 1995, incorporating the elements of both PReP and the Power Macintosh architecture. Key to CHRP was the requirement for Open Firmware (also required in PReP-compliant systems delivered after June 1, 1995), which gave vendors greatly improved support during the boot process, allowing the hardware to be far more varied. If the PReP firmware environment is fairly primitive, it shouldn't be hard to shim Open Firmware to accept a PReP bootloader. ![]() Supporting the Apple motherboard platform is likely the main issue. This explains so much!! Years ago (late 90's / early 2000's before they closed) there was a Warner Bros. Studio / Outlet store in New York City.
